It would be hilarious if it was not truly tragic.

Oh well that's a mighty fine way to weed out fact from fiction .... let's just start putting things like gravity or the existence of DNA to the vote. Why not, so much more...democratic !

How does one who is not a creationist manage to survive in a place like that ? I can't imagine being surrounded by people with so little grasp of our Universe.

Nerver mind you still have Chili con carne and BBQ.

What's to pe put to the vote next ? Whether epilepsy really is demonic possession or perhaps whether pigs can actually fly ?

Wow. That is ridiculous. It would be funny if it had no effect on anything, but this is just sad.

Texas should probably just go ahead and secede from the USA and become the Theocracy that they appear to desire.

There has actually been a major effort by creationists to get on school boards or to hold any position that can impact what students are taught in the classroom. They've tried to do this in every state but with varying amounts of success because when something like this happens it causes the public to take a look at what's going on because it makes their state appear foolish. This particular incident is so ridiculous that it may have a backlash from Texans who don't want their state to seem backwards and uneducated.

Is there a correlation of living in the deep south with one's head firmly embedded in one's posterior?

Putting it politely.

The really horrid thing about such willful stupidity is that because TX is so large, their schoolbook demands are done by the publishers and the entire country is stuck with what they specify in schoolbooks.

Dark Ages of ignorance, anyone?

I didn't see the quote from the person that the blog is talking about. Maybe they're suggesting that they should at least consider creationism. Even Dawkins suggested that it's possible that life on earth was created (albeit by aliens, not God).

Oh praaizzee be to Dawkins - er, uhm, who is he again?

Seems like you don't understand, he is not venerated like the pope is. He is NOT a deity. Just a person with an opinion.

Never heard of him till I came to this forum.

Don't you know we worship the FSM? Bless his noodlyness.
