This is similar to what I saw in street businesses in Ghana. Some of the catch phrases followed by the actual business were humorous, one I remember was a billboard outside a shop with;

Only God knows how

The Cellphone Works

I steer clear of companies that use the fish symbol in their ad.

I find them (Christians) to be the most dishonest business people. My husband sub contracted with a guy from our former church and he (the other guy) still owes him (my husband) about $1000. He ignors our calls and e mails. Isn't that wonderful. I'll bet his god is so proud.

A few months back, I took my car to a recommended shop (has a few franchises in this part of the country) that has a religious name. I assumed the name was the last name of the "brothers" who founded the business. Turns out, there were no brothers and the name came form the founders strong Christian beliefs. Anyhow, that didn't really bother me... and they did good work... however, they ended up charging me a decent amount more than the dealer would have. Had I not been in a bind, I would have taken it elsewhere.

But I guess I got a good lesson in business... in this part of the country if you tell people your service is guaranteed by sky cake himself, you can get them to pay anything you want.

Well, it's said that cleanliness is next to godliness. Funny thing about that is that proverb does not appear in the bible. I also have a good hunch that many of those bible superstars were some filthy people and more than likely smelled bad too.

Like others, I don't like those who use religion to try to gen up business. Of course, preachers do it all the time, but you know what I mean. To me, using the fish or whatever to imply that I should trust you is not different than the used car dealers of the past who went by monikers like "Honest John" or "Fair Deal Dan".

Unfortunately the owners of businesses advertise their religious beliefs with the fish symbol and the Yellow Pages is full of their ads. An ad with a little Darwin fish with feet would be a big turnoff to the religious majority.

It's interesting that this "profanity" would have probably got them blackballed in some Christian circles not too long ago.
