.... was greeted with a picture of people talking to imaginary friends. http://www.citizen-times.com/article/20120422/NEWS/304220068/Asheville-revival-marries-modernity-mission?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Frontpage

... eyes squeezed shut to help with the fantasy, and reminds me of this picture.....

.... save us from people that gather in groups to talk to imaginary friends

Yep, this is very familiar to me, eyes tightly shut with raised hands. I grew up with this scene and I never got used to it. But most of my experience also includes speaking in tongues to go along with the closed eyes and raised hands. And some jumping around too. These guys seem sort of tame compared to all that. I suppose it could be worse.

Yea, the whole thing looks familiar. I *ach..* can't seem to place it in mein head, but if I work on it a little longer, it might make me free... to remember... what it reminds me of...

Atheism doesn't have charities, as the theists repeatedly point out. That is because it relies on the truth for its credit, not soup - kitchens with tracts and prayer -sessions to buy support.

Actually, there are some specifically atheist charities now.

This one is in Austin, TX
Atheists Helping the Homeless

Richard Dawkins has nonbelievers giving aid
Non-Believers Giving Aid - Disaster Relief

Kiva.org has an atheists and agnostics team (and we regularly beat out other teams in terms of the amount of our giving).
Kiva - Kiva Lending Team: Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and the Non-Religious

I have a friend in Haiti and I was sent an article about the Haitian Freethinkers and Athiests who were providing relief without religion in the country. I can't find the article right now, but there are actual atheists in Haiti itself and they have been generous in helping their people.

Thanks you, that is correct. There have been one or two non - religious organizations funded by charity for some time, and recently a non - religious loan company or something similar? I am happy to be corrected on this.

I imagine many of us atheists are quite generous with charitable groups that don't push religion- there are many.
