My sister and I are looking for a home to purchase in the greate Atlanta area. We are both recent graduates. We will be travelling more than 50% of the time so a location close to the airport (or the marta line) is a must. We also must be close to the city because we will both be spending time in downtown offices. We have been looking into Smyrna and found some nice developments that meets all our requirements. However, our realitor tells us that resale rates in Smyrna are very low compared to other locations. I was wondering if anyone knew about resale rates in the Atlanta area and could give me some more information about it. He suggested N. Fulton and Gwinnett counties from a resale perspective.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Smyrna, Gwinnett and most of N. Fulton are no where near a Marta lines. Sure they are within ten miles in some cases but traffic on the north side in terrible and if you are not actually close it will take you forever to get anywhere. Your best bet is areas close to Marta in Dunwoody or Roswell (nice areas, high resale) or going inside the perimeter. Areas inside the perimeter are very hot and have great resale values. Buckhead or areas south of buckhead along Peachtree are good areas. If you are looking for a little cheaper area try Brookhaven or Chamblee. Along the east line Decatur is a great town, a very walkable downtown with great neighborhoods and high resale values. Any other area along a marta line or close to the airport is going to be in the ghetto.

Hope this helps.
