Hello everyone, my friends and I are visiting Atlanta for a concert(Manchester Orchestra) on thanksgiving eve and we'll probably stay there for a day or two since we don't really do the family thanksgiving tradition. The problem is we don't know what places to visit or things to do, we've been to the aquarium and world of coca-cola and that's it so I am looking for suggestions on fun places to visit. Are there any events going on on thanksgiving or is everything closed?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm not from the U.S. so I wasn't sure what to expect for my first thanksgiving. I really want to visit Stone Mountain, and Macy's tree sounds interesting. Thanks.

Check out the high museum that weekend. There's almost always something going on over at the woodruff arts center.

Most things are closed on Thanksgiving Day, including most stores and amusements. It'll be hard to find even a restaurant open. Better call each place to be sure of their Thanksgiving day hours.
Typically, gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants will close early on Thanksgiving afternoon as well, so plan to fill up early on Thanksgiving day.
Stone Mtn is a nice place to visit, and they appear to be open Thanksgiving day.

Keep in mind, the morning after Thanksgiving is "Black Friday," so allow an extra 30 minutes to get wherever you're going. Lots of holiday shoppers in Atlanta!
