I consider riding season to be year round but I do use electric jacket liner and gloves. Temperatures seldom drop below 20. Traffic tends to be fast and heavy. Drivers are notorious for crossing multiple lanes without signalling to catch an exit. I try to stay outside of Atlanta proper but have commuted to work there and have passed through there many times. Yes, it rains but in the dry season the roads get well oiled and can be more treacherous than when wet because the cars don't notice it. The side streets are often rough due to numerous patches and steel plates being used to cover holes for utility work is common. Snow is a rare occurrence but it does happen but not every winter. If you are going to live away from college there are mass transit opportunities including MARTA system and GRTA commuter busses. I wish you the best of luck with your move.
