Pretty cool. Good to see the city making improvements like this.

Congratulations to the Piedmont Park Conservancy on yet another outstanding improvement!! What an awesome organization. If you remember the old days, the way they've transformed the park is simply unbelievable.

Cool, looks like one of those interactive fountains/splash pads like the one in Centennial Park. Great addition for sure.

And this is just the first phase of a 53-acre expansion of the park. That's awesome.

Let's all keep in mind that this work, while supported by the city, was actually performed by the Piedmont Park Conservancy through the donations of individuals and companies who graciously gave tens of millions of dollars even during the recession.

The Conservancy is awesome. It's my understanding that Piedmont Park is almost entirely funded by private donations, although maybe the city puts some money in.

According to its website, the Conservancy currently manages more than 90 percent of the Park’s daily maintenance care and security.

Thank goodness for the kindness and vision of Atlanta's many private donors and volunteers. Without them Piedmont Park as we know it simply wouldn't exist.

The city is so bogged down in debt and pension obligations that it has very little money for things like parks.
