I'm thinking that maybe it's Georgia's "Law & order" type of culture that gives the paparazzi types great pause before deciding to descend on Atlanta like vultures. Or it could be that the movie industry hasn't really settled on any one place to call home for the long-term.

No need for the freelance photographers who work for crap magazines like "US Weekly" spending loads of money in travel expenses when these movie stars & the film industry will simply hop to the next state that offers the highest tax breaks.

I hope at some point someone crunches the numbers so that we Georgians can get a full picture on whether or not these tax breaks are worth it.

This point is highlighted by this story I heard a few months ago about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner (both in town to shoot movies), purchased a season pass to the Botanical Gardens. That says something where two ultra famous people are able to just go out a public place like that on a regular basis without having to deal with people interrupting their family time. That sort of thing is priceless.

Here, the absolute worst thing that will happen to them is that some overzealous fan bugs the crap out of them but that's pretty rare I would imagine given our local culture isn't to put people on the spot that way.

Supposedly the numbers have been crunched and it's been found to be a slight loser.

$19.9 million Atlanta mansion quite the movie star - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_localatl/20110603/ts_yblog_localatl/19-9-million-atlanta-mansion-quite-the-movie-star?bouchon=524,ga - broken link)

At the moment one of the featured stories on yahoo's homepage is about Lee Najjar's (AKA Big Poppa) house that's on the block. Apparently the house is becoming more well known than its former residents. lol.

HA HA. I was just about to post that story but you beat me to it. It's a beautiful house and I recognize its already been used in a couple of music videos and other stuff in Atlanta if I'm not mistaking.

Since when does Georgia have a "law and order" culture? If anything, I see less law enforcement and presence down here than the midwest.

I knew they had to be filming something over there. I rode through there Friday and there were trucks and trailers and police everywhere.

Interesting. That article is a bit light on specifics...anyone know what the top states are? I'm assuming California and New York way at the top, then what else? Florida? NC?
