I am curious to know.

2010 Entering freshmen class - Georgia Tech

School # of students
Northview HS - 60
Chattahoochee HS 36
Walton 36
Wheeler HS 35
Milton HS 31
Peachtree Ridge HS 30

The million dollar question is did Georgia Tech take in more than 36 students each from Lambert or Johns Creek High? Anybody know?

I'm not sure why it matters. There are students who get accepted, and choose to go elsewhere, so the total coming from each school isn't necessarily the number who qualified.

It might not hurt to call the newer schools such as Johns Creek and ask.

Also the senior class student population from each of these schools varies quite a bit, and with that in mind a number of entering GT freshman itself is somewhat meaningless in this ranking other than personal curiosity.

But you're comparing apples and oranges. # of students enrolled is very different than # of students accepted.

Even if it wasn't...Northview HS district has a very high percentage of Asians, many of whom having engineering/computer backgrounds. It's only natural that a lot of those kids would follow in their parents' footsteps...

mrpanda, why is that the million dollar question? I'm not arguing or anything, I just don't understand what's important about that.

Default % students enrolled to both GA Tech and UGA

Johns creek high seniors are with Northview and Chattahoochee, where as Lambert seniors are with South Forsyth high. As of now Johns creek ratings are better than Chattahoochee and Lambert ratings are better than South Forsyth high. My guess is Johns creek % enrollment will be higher than Chattahoochee and Lambert % enrollment will be higher than South Forsyth high, but how high is hard to predict. Absolute number 36 has no meaning, it goes with % of enrollment

*** % students enrolled to both GA Tech and UGA
1. Northview High School (Fulton): 23.7% (60+89)
2. Chattahoochee High School (Fulton): 20.8% (36+80)
3. Walton High School (Cobb): 16.7% (36+68)
4. South Forsyth High School (Forsyth): 15.8% (29+64)
5. Wheeler High School (Cobb): 15.6% (35+38)
6. Alpharetta High School (Fulton): 15.5% (22+59)

Gshdwey,

Where are you getting this data from? Do you have a link for its source?

Lambert will capture many of Korean, Indian, and Chinese families migrating straight north of McGinnis Ferry (N. Fulton/S. Forsyth) border out the Northview High cluster. Northview High will become the first Asian majority public High school in State of Georgia by 2015. The first real competitor and rival to Northview will be the new Lambert HS where I estimate that around 45 - 50 Lambert seniors were admitted to Tech in 2010.

My guess is the following order for the top feeders to UGA and Tech.

1. Northview
2. Lambert
3. Johns Creek High
4. Chattahoochee
5. Walton

Default GA Tech and UGA enrollments

Johns Creek carved out of Northview and Chattahoochee, Lambert carved out of South Forsyth High. Most of the 12th Grade students were with parent schools during 2010 school year, only 81 in Johns creek high and 0 in lambert. South Forsyth has 16% enrollment (29 to GA Tech and 64 to UGA), which includes Lambert High also.

I think either Lambert or Johns Creek high will take second place, but not sure which one. Johns creek high is the most affluent area in metro Atlanta with good asian demographics. Lambert high is best in Forsyth and lot of asian migration happening, both are excellent schools.

*** Median home ask price:
1. Johns Creek High School (Fulton): 500K
2. Milton High School (Fulton): 450K
3. Lambert High School (Forsyth): 390K
4. Walton High School (Cobb): 390K
5. Riverwood High School (Fulton): 390K
6. Northview High School (Fulton): 350K

Gshdwey,

Interesting.. where are you getting data for median home price by school clusters below? Do you have a link?

*** Median home ask price:
3. Lambert High School (Forsyth): 390K
6. Northview High School (Fulton): 350K

The reason why I think Lambert will take 2nd place over Johns Creek High School is Lambert is due to its higher White/Asian Ratio.

Northview High 2010 1081 White 798 Asian Total Enrollment 2134 WA Ratio: 88.05%
Lambert High 2010 : 1147 White 110 Asian Total Enrollment 1391 WA Ratio: 90.36%
Johns Creek HS 2010 : 761 White 226 Asian Total Enrollement 1212 WA Ratio: 81.43%

If have the published test scores you can post them up here as my instincts tells me that Lambert's will result in high scores than Johns Creek High.

Another interesting fact is the Peachtree Ridge and Milton High jump from rank #11 % #12 to #5 and #6 as the top feeder schools to Tech. Do you know what resulted to this suddent jump?

Default median ask price

Median ask price is from any realtor sites where you can get for any school and jump to the page to see the value of median ask price.

Lambert has 387 homes and 193/194 home is asked at 390K
