My job advised me that they may transfer (either the end of next month or the end of Sept.)me to the Atlanta location(Kennesaw)! I may not have to interview, but I may make slightly over a dollar less than what I do now. I'm 25 so I figured I take the opportunity if offered. As soon as I relocate here I will be searching for a new job that requires use of my degree(aka better pay). However, I want to live in the west midtown/midtown area with a roomie or 2. I have 2 questions:
1. How horrible with the commute be at 7am and returning at 430pm?
2. Has anyone used craigslist to find a roommate? How were your experiences?

I know from 2 years of research that Smyrna/Vinings is better for me, but I love the city life

1. Midtown -> Kennesaw? 25-30 min in the mornings as it is a reverse commute. Coming back may be slightly worse since the connector clogs up a bit. It may vary a bit depending how deep into W. Midtown you go (How far from the highway). 4:30 is early in the rush hour so it will likely not be as bad as 5:30. You can look at the historical traffic patterns on google maps pretty easily and since it's a straight shot up and down, it's usually not too bad.

2. Just make sure you have references (that aren't family) since this person will be in your home. Maybe sublet a bit yourself till you find roommates?

Definitely much easier to find a new job once you're in town and working already. Best of luck.

I have good news! The job offer was approved, and I'll be moving in about a month. I'm quite stressed and scared. I plan on making one last visit, not sure when and I have to find a roommate

I do this exact commute, and it's really easy both ways. No traffic unless there's an accident or something.

I used to live in Smynings, but I moved into the city for better access to food, fun, city life, etc.

I strongly advise you to live within close proximity of I-75. Don't live in part of Vinings that would require you to ever go on 285, as it gets clogged going both ways during rush hour. I-75, however, is clear as can be if you're going against traffic during rush hour.

If you want the city life, try West Midtown. I live in the Howell Mill corridor, and you have several options to get onto I-75 without having to deal with the connector or other Midtown traffic. Depending on where you work in Kennesaw, it may only take you 30 min. to get to/from work.

You can do Craigslist, but have you talked to Promove yet? They helped me find a good apartment complex for my job in Kennesaw before I moved into West Midtown. Just make sure to emphasize that you want to be close to I-75.

Promove doesnt do roommate matching and I have to have one, otherwise I'd be stuck doing an hour commute from South Atlanta living with relatives

About 20 minutes south of the airport.... my commute would be about 50-60 min without traffic!

It would be longer than that because south of downtown, you would be going with the morning and afternoon commuter traffic. That would kill you on gas too, not to mention the miles you would rack up on your car. We don't want that.

Try roomates.com. I used them at one point when I thought I was moving away and it worked for me. I had even made contact with the person I was considering bunking with.
