Coming to Atlanta (I'm a native)...for DragonCon in 2 weeks (very excited).

Thought I'd ask what else is going on that weekend and what everyone else was up to that weekend?

Also the Decatur Book Festival. And don't forget about Black Gay Pride!

But yeah, I'll be focusing on UGA/Boise State at the Dome. Tickets are insanely expensive, but I'll definitely be tailgating and so forth. Big football watching weekend for me.

Labor Day weekend is pretty awesome in Atlanta. Probably our best holiday celebration of the year. The best part is that it's such a cultural cluster****.

I agree that labor day is the best weekend of the year in Atlanta. So many things going on.

ESPN Game Day will likely be broadcasting live from Centennial Olympic Park (they have the past few years), as well as a variety of game-related events in the Georgia World Congress Center.

Georgia Tech has a home football game that Thursday evening, and the Braves have several home games in a row.

There's a major night-time NASCAR race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Park Tavern has a Whiskey and Beer fest every labor day weekend. Marietta has their art on the square festival.

For some reason they decided to make it larger, which means they need to raise more money, which means it is delayed. But they still seem pretty gung-ho.

It will take until like 2013 at the earliest IIRC. We'll probably hear more about it this football season.

Also, in future years the college kickoff fun will be even better. We'll have two games on Labor Day weekend: one on Thursday and one on Saturday. Thursday 2012 will have Tennessee/NC State, and Saturday will be Auburn/Clemson. Thursday 2014 will have Ole Miss/Boise State, and Saturday will be an epic South Carolina/Notre Dame. This is all in additional to a likely home opener at Georgia Tech.

I will be as far away from ATL as possible labor day weekend. Thinking of going to Miami maybe.

One of the things I love best about that weekend is the confluence of SEC fans and DragonCon attendees -- the football bubbas always pack the parade route, cell phone cams going like crazy! It really is a neat atmosphere!
