Yeah, that's good advice.

My property manager back in North Carolina for my condo says that would be a definite no-no in the Tar Heel State. N.C. also caps late fees at 10% of rent, while Georgia allows unlimited late fee amount.

What Ansley and Caleb said. Technically she probably had no right to touch your stuff. However, it sounds like no harm was done.

I'd just tell the landlord, "Say, it's fine if you show my place but please be sure to give me a heads-up so that I can straighten up and move my personal things out of the way."

I think the consensus advice is good advice, though I'm having a little trouble swallowing this.

I tell you what though - I WISH the worst problem I had with my tenants had been a few packing boxes in locations I didn't like and a floor that wasn't mopped to my standards. I dealt with nonpayment of rents, drug dealing, etc.

Her luck may run out one day and she'll wish that was the extent of her landlord woes.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Thanks, I will. Like anything there will be some pluses and some minuses with the move. But overall, I'm looking forward to it. The view from the place is spectacular.

What might be best is surprisingly, I'll be saving money with the move.
