What about the winter before when everyone was stuck in there house and couldnt go no where because of snow and ice.. How about its still november and last nights temps were down to 28 degrees....

Its fair to say Atlanta has a real winter here and there.. some are worse than others

Coming from south florida, the only region in the lower 48 that has a tropical climate I don't blame you. Heck I'm from NYC and say ATL is cold... definitely worse out there but its not the eastcoast version of Phoenix. And despite its closeness to Florida the weather in the two states are very diff. It could be 42 in NYC, 50 here, and 70 in Tampa. Never got how temps here could be closer to the north than further south. I guess ATL is in the southern part of a large transitional zone so no extreme cold temps on avg and not much if any snow(which I love snow but ATL traffic is bad on a dry day, worse in rain, doomsday during wintry precip) but we get plenty of chilly-cold weather here.

Winter is a season...not an event. Atlanta doesn't experience a real winter. Be thankful.

That winter turned into a event of people ice skating on streets etc so in that regard its season that caused several events

Atlanta gets real winter...it doesn't get excessive winter weather like many places north of Atlanta, but that doesn't mean winter isn't real. For 3 months the trees are bare, temps are consistently below freezing, and a coat is usually required. Harsh? No. Winter? Yes.

Atlanta doesn't have a single month where the average nightly temperature is below freezing. In fact, we don't even have a single day where the average nightly low is below 34 degrees.

yes, exactly... below freezing is not an everyday event, there are patches where it will be below freezing for a week or two, but only at night. having a series of days where the temperature never goes above freezing is rare.

what we have down here in atlanta, people in other parts of the country— boston, chicago, minneapolis, denver— would call autumn. it's basically like a really long autumn, the temperatures don't go much lower but eventually the leaves fall off of the trees.

i have to be honest because i really like snow... but it's not to be found here, on average it snows only 1.9 days per year here. and that isn't snow that sticks, that's any snow at all, including flurries.

Trees being bare is also Autumn and temperatures are not consistently below freezing in Atlanta "winters". A coat is usually required? In the North, a coat is required even for Autumn. Atlanta winter conditions only last at worst for a few days. And if it's snow, worthy of hours and hours of local television coverage. They need to get it into the broadcast before the snow melts.

You wusses need to spend some winters in the North to get a proper perspective.

i was just in Atlanta for thanksgiving and the weather was very very nice. I then had to drive back to michigan and ran into bitterly cold weather. It actually made me sick. But it was nice to come back to some snow. We had about an inch last night and expecting more this coming week. I absolutely love snow and winter
