Many have argued that the malls became the new downtowns for much of America.

It is about time for gwinnett place mall to transform to an upscale k-town galleria! Mega Mart is truly an embarrassment!

When I first moved to the area Gwinnett Place mall was a nice and busy mall. I worked near the mall and once had a part time job there. I lived a little closer to The Mall of Georgia which was brand new at the time but preffered Gwinnett Place. Been a few years since I have been there last but was sad to see how far it had fallen. I would like to see it bought from Simon. I have moved from the area but miss it and would like to return.

honestly i agree with the OP. Having diversity is great but i think somewhere down the line duluth has gotten over developed with diversity. Don't get me wrong having ASSI, Super H Mart, and Great wall is great but does there need to be a mega mart (which others have mentioned, doesn't do anything as well as H Mart, ASSI, or Great Wall)? If anything bringing back the old Gwinett place mall would bring diversity to the area now.

whats up with Mega Mart? sorry, Ive never been there, but just want to know what makes it a trashy place / embarrassment to the area. Is it the merchandise? The crowd?

It's that the first floor is kind of just a typical Korean grocery store. Nothing horrible, but kind of weird for a mall.

The second floor is supposed to be apparel, but it's incredibly sparse and what little merchandise they do have is low quality and ludicrously overpriced. Nobody in their right mind would purchase any of it.

I don't know about the third floor. I think it's supposed to be private ballroom/rental space, but I've never been up there and nothing seems to happen there on a regular basis.

Let's just say MEGA MART is a complete embarrassment to the Korean community of Atlanta and Gwinnett Place mall is a complete embarrassment compared to the mall of Georgia. Poor Simon needs to give this up and revamp this entire place in a high end Asian shopping center.

Think "The Galleria" in LA K-Town.

Mega mart was never serious at that location. Basically if a Korean company is going to turn that sorry mall around, it would take nothing less than Chaebol money, but that money is better invested in places like Dubai.

If you really think the Ktown galleria is the model for Gwinett Place's future, I have another example for you. Koreatown Plaza on Western Ave is basically what you can expect KTown Galleria to look like in about 10-15 yrs. In other words, it's going to age horribly w/ mom and pop stores and constant 2-3 yr turnover. All shops are horribly overpriced and you see stuff like DVD/CD shops when most have already moved onto online streaming.

Oh, and don't get me started on the food court - no two trips to the same place tasted the same, ever. At least with Panda Express I know I am getting something that is consistently sub-par.
