I got my tax bill for my 2009 odyssey - I live in decatur so therefore dekalb county and they charged my $500. I lived in another county last year but that seems a bit much. How do I know if it is right? do I call the county?

Yes I am - However, I did not see on the bill on how they came up with the $500. so money from the ad valorem tax also goes to the city of decatur?

Last we were there,Fulton Co.(Sandy Springs), had us right at 1% of the value of our vehicles for ad valorem tax. $500 on a three year old mini-van seems pretty steep...unless the tax rate has gone up that much.

REALLY glad we don't pay ad valorem tax on vehicles here in Texas. REAL property taxes are a BEAR, however.
