Then Little 5, EAV, Va-Hi, Lindbergh, hell even Atlantic Station for all of it's plasticity isn't bad. There are more but given you may feel "unsafe" there (even though there is nothing to be afraid of, except your perception) I won't push the matter. Those above will provide more than enough for anyone.

Wow... It's a lot flashier here than I was used to in the midwest.

Besides, my first distinct impression of Atlanta was neon tomahawks in 1991. Ugh.

Heh, I hear you, RC.

I guess I'm just saying that in general folks in Atlanta don't go for a lot of flash. No need to flaunt it if you've got it, etc. You see that in the midwest but it's also a southern thing.

well I havent seen too many in between people here. As in people here are either working a dead end job or are some rich white collar middle age people. With that being said:
1.over populated
2.unorganized
3.diverse
4.sunny

ITP--please tell me WHERE these places are that I can dine and then walk around safely and window shop and people watch. I'd like to try them out!

I've been to DT Decatur--not too exciting or interesting.
If Decatur didn't impress you then I doubt any other spot ITP will. There really just isn't that sort of thing in Atlanta, not even in Midtown. Virginia Highland has little commercial clusters seperated by dark residential areas. My old hood, East Atlanta Village(EAV), wasn't even all that great for people watching and it's one of the city's biggest entertainment districts. I can count on one hand the number of street performers I saw on the main drag of EAV(a supposedly BoHo hood) and I spentmore of my waking hours there than I did at home. Atlanta has such a weak streetlife scene to be honest and that's kinda sad. The only time there is really good people watching in Atlanta is when there is an event like Dragon Con or the SEC Championship in town.

Guess I have been spoiled by touristy areas with this type of dining/entertainment. I thought Atlantic Station was nice, but there were lots of posts on the C-D about a year ago about crime there.
