Just in time for summer...

Georgia Power customers, your bill is going up in April

The first increase, along with a fee for the Plant Vogtle expansion, kicked in January 2010, adding about $14.50 a month to typical bill. After the April increase, the third hike will come in January 2013...

It sucks, but you can always conterbalance it by purchasing a few shares of Southern Company stock! The dividend is small, but steady.

The dividend is actually pretty high vs the avg. Widely considered one of the best dividend stocks.

Gas companies got hosed this winter and now the electric co are going to make up for that savings.

And that's right on top of the so-called "Nuclear Construction Cost Recovery Fee" that I am being forced to pay monthly so that someone in Waynesboro can have their precious Nuclear Power Plant. It's nothing more than a back-end tax increase. But for whatever reason, THAT'S not considered "socialism".

Where's my "Shafer Amendment" on this issue, eh? Where are the conservatives when a guy like me wants to keep that "Nuclear Construction Cost Recover Fee" money in my pockets, huh?

One more reason why "conservatism" in this state is simply nothing more than contradictory toilet water. Subsidizing services is okay as long as it's the "other guy" who is subsidizing them.

It's a company doing the charging, isn't it? That would be Capitalism. At least in their eyes, that's a good thing. Corporations are people, right. So something which benefits corporations is the same as something which benefits us. Exactly the same.

So Corporate bureaucracy will beat out Government bureaucracy every time regardless of the peculiar similarities...at least in the eyes of conservative minded Americans and moderate Americans too lazy or paralyzed by apathy to question any specious laws that oozes like toxic waste out of our government's legislative offices. Gotcha.

Oy vey.

I'm gonna need to sit back in my easy chair tonight and "Jack Daniels" myself into a drunken stupor in order to stomach this latest contradictory madness.

Now would be a great time to create a real jobs plan. Create a Georgia Valley Authority and give these for-profit corporations the boot. We can scrap the plans for more dirty and dangerous nukes and invest in clean renewables. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for the peace of mind of knowing jobs are being created and investment is being made in safe, clean energy and not to line the pockets of shareholders and executives.
