With more and more people ditching land lines and becoming dependent on mobile phones, what is the deal with "busy networks" when there are major festivals in Piedmont Park. I live near the park and had no phone service Saturday afternoon and evening during Music Midtown. Were any carriers better than others? I assume that when one network's circuits are full, they roam to other networks clogging all networks.
I left ATT a couple of years ago and switched to sprint hoping it would be better.
AT&T also doesn't work very well in EAV but I think that could be from lack of a nearby tower. But anytime you have a huge crowd of people (Piedmont, Dome, downtown during dragon*con) it seems the AT&T network is overloaded.

yes! I dont have any service inside of any of the bars along glenwood ave..forgot about that as well
Sounds as if they may need another tower to offload some of the traffic to. Should probably contact the wireless provider, with an affluent area like that i'm pretty sure they'd be eager to do something.
They are not going to upgrade their network infrastructure for more reliable service for the couple of days per year it's a problem. They might start bringing in mobile units for larger events.
at&t sucks. I'm amazed at the market that is a corporate hub for at&t mobility their system is so horrible. All over the state they have coverage holes, Macon is even worse. Even T-Mobile's PCS/AWS only spectrum puts at&t to shame for capacity in Atlanta and Macon.
All of my friends who have Sprint and Verizon had no problems. Only at&t users seemed to be having problems.
It's anywhere there's a critical mass of people. I was at the Georgia Tech game yesterday and I couldn't upload to Facebook a single photo/video the entire time I was there. Too many people crowding the network.
Pretty much everywhere I go with my AT&T iPhone, I have terrible service. I can't even use it at the Atlanta Airport. I've had problems in most cities. AT&T is terrible. As soon as I can get out of my AT&T contract without a big penalty, I'm off to Verizon.
Interestingly, I thought AT&T installed extra capacity at the park for the festival. They had some equipment on a tower at the main stage. Either way, it didn't seem to matter as I had a pretty hard time there, too. However, my phone was useable, just slow. But at every other concert I've been to, it was completely unusable.
