You can guarantee that EVERY television set in EVERY office of EVERY head of state in EVERY nation IN THE WORLD was tuned to CNN last night. That's the CNN difference. On any news of national or international significance that's important to the rest of the world, they're the GO-TO source ... via cable, Internet or smart devices. No. 1 news operation IN THE WORLD! And it all originates from downtown ATL. Again, that's not small potatoes folks.

i find their election coverage amazingly good, as it was during the primaries as well. that's why i'm always surprised when someone talks about the stupid stuff they see on CNN. i turn 'em on during the day, and whaddya know? they're right. i only watch them during the elections so i guess i see them at their best. one thing that bothered me about their debate coverage is that they had a split screen with one candidate on either side during the entire thing, it was tiresome to watch.

Regardless of ratings or political affiliations, CNN provided coverage to people around the world. They provided a service. Georgians should be proud of CNN.

Not a big deal, but coverage election night was not out of the Atlanta studio. They did primary coverage there in a BIG way, though.

"It's not a competition to see who's FIRST --- it's about accuracy, depth of reporting and CONTEXT .... something that Fox absolutely does not and cannot (by their own admission) provide. Neither does CNBC."

Maybe you and I were watching different events. I was watching the election results. Therefore the first network who predicted each state/race correctly won in my books. You couldn't hear the commentary anyway - so that was irrelevant.

My colleague was from Toronto and she even suggested I take a picture of the two TV's to tweet showing how far behind CNN was - but I think twitter is for the birds and wasn't worth the hassle... PS - I do have a twitter account.

I stand corrected. Master control is out of Atlanta of course and all the execs, editors, writers, .com and CNN International anchors are based here. I have friends who work downtown that didnt leave until 5 a.m.

Yep. An enormous amount of work goes into producing something this size, and they should be really proud of how well they pulled it off.

I think Time Warner is trying to move a lot of their big shows and operation to NYC.

The last 4 elections (presidential + mid-terms) were all out of New York headquarters.

Headline News 24/7 was definitely out of Atlanta, but with Headline News turning into HLN with opinion shows and such, lots of their stuff are from NY I think.

The past few have been out of Atlanta. This year was out of Washginton. I'm not sure, but I don't believe they have ever been out of New York.

I'm not sure about that.

As far as I know, the studio with Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, and all 60 of their political analysts on election night are from their CNN HQ in Manhattan. This one I think you're correct was in DC though because the room was much smaller. THe last three ('10,'08,'06) were definitely in NYC though. I'm about 99.9% sure.

Blitzer normally does his show in DC studios, Cooper does his in New York since he also has his daytime talk show in NYC as well.

They don't have a huge studio in Atlanta as far as I know. The reason I know this is because CNN Atlanta HQ was their last major headquarters to transition to full HD on tv. When I first got my HD box in 2007, all the shows from New York were in HD (Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs, etc.). The Situation Room with Blitzer was still in standard definition in DC, and CNN Newsroom from Atlanta was not in HD either.

I think they upgraded their DC HQ to high definition in late 2008 before the elections, and Atlanta around that same time too.
