Actually, I think it is the builders/developers can't get financing for condos.

They are already pretty deep into this project. There is a lot of heavy equipment on site, and work is well underway. If they couldn't arrange financing to build condos, I doubt they would have been working since summer.

I think that the reasoning for apartments versus condos for this project along with Skyhouse is that there must be a need for rentals rather than condos in Atlanta.

They know what they are doing. They'll be able to make more money this way for the time being. They can convert them to condos after the area has reached capacity and get a significant amount more money for them then than if they were to sell them off when it opens. This project has a very optimistic outlook and I seriously doubt they will have any trouble getting financial backing.

Oh they'll convert to condos at some point. Probably a few years after the project is complete and the bills are paid off.
