Will be relocating jobs to Marietta from Tampa. I am looking to rent around Marietta (20 mile radius) in an area thats safe for families.

Looking to rent for around 1100-1200 with fenced backyards. I am needing two things:

1. Good areas to look
2. Name/number of good local property managers to contact

Thanks!

Tell us where you live in Tampa and whether you like it or not. If you do, what do you like about it? I think we could help you better with that knowledge.

We just moved to the Atlanta area from Tampa, and whatever you do, Do NOT rent from Invitation Homes! They are a property management company that says the heck with you once you sign your lease. Woodstock is about 20 miles from Marietta and is a good family area and you could probably find a rental in your price range.

I just moved from St. Pete to Woodstock. While I much prefer the St. Pete lifestyle, Wood stock is a good place to land in the metro Atlanta area. Good house prices, a lot of newer construction and not quite as congested as some of the other burbs. Woodstock is kinda the border between the suburbs and N. Ga. meaning that if you want to head to the mountains, you have a 30 min head start leaving from Woodstock.

As FLMommy07 and sportsterjohn stated, Woodstock is an excellent place to look that is popular with and well-liked by Metro Atlanta newcomers because of the heavily-wooded and hilly scenery and the really good schools in the feeder zones for Woodstock, Etowah, River Ridge high schools.

You should also look in the Acworth, Kennesaw, West Cobb areas.

If you are going to be working in Marietta, you should definitely look around inside East Cobb County as this is an area with some of the most highly-regarded public schools in the state in the feeder zones of Walton, Pope, Lassiter, Sprayberry and Wheeler high schools.

You also be warned that a budget of $1100-1200 does not often necessarily get you a lot of properties with fenced-in backwards as much as it gets you Northeastern-style row-house townhomes and condos and apartments and aging and smaller single-family homes.

With a budget of only 1100-1200, you can find homes in nice areas, but don't necessarily expect to find an abundance of detached single-family homes with fenced-in backyards.

I am off of 92 between Sandy Plains and Trickum. Water is ok I think but sometimes it looks cloudy when I fill up my coffee pot. No fios for internet, I use standard Att. Its not superfast but it isn't slow. As far as bugs go, I see mostly june bugs. They don't get inside too much but they are on my porch a lot when the porch light is on.
I still much prefer St. Pete for the vacation land mentality and the laid back lifesyste ( as well as the beach and downtown St. Pete) but as I said this is a good area as far as Atlanta goes. As a rule, the north suburbs are highly regarded. If your job is in Marietta, I would suggest Woodstock, East Marietta, Roswell, Kennesaw. There are other areas but the 4 areas above will have a lot of sfh with yards
