Live in Buford,GA now. Like the idea of getting around in golf cart. Have never been to PTC and wonder if its right for us. Retired, looking for a one level $22 -$300K home w/basement. Are there any areas in PTC with homes like this? Are there things for active srs to get involved in? What hospital/medical care is nr PTC. How long to get to airpot. Would a realtor be willing to provide us transportation to PTC to look around? Thanks for any input.

A visit to Peachtree City would answer all your questions ... but generally, yes to everything. Do you not have transportation to get there yourself? A real estate agent would of course drive you around for days if you wish, but come to Buford and pick you up? Not so sure.

Thanks for the links newsboy. We drive locally but not sure feel comfortable driving to PTC initially. Want a community w/all ages but obviously some folks in our age range too. Are there any newer construction, what I've seen on line are homes over 20yrs old. We have a home in Buford we'd need to sell as well. Are there any drawbacks for retirees in PTC? Notice a lot of info about younger families.

There are TONS of retirees in PTC. It's probably the closest thing to a Florida-type retirement experience you're going to find in Metro Atlanta. I don't know how much new construction is going on right now, because PTC is nearing "build-out" -- meaning they're running out of available land. But there's MOST DEFINITELY homes newer than 20 years!

You should explore the city's website and then come explore the city!

Here is a link to a search page for single-family homes in Peachtree City under $300,000, hopefully you should be able to find some newer construction within these listings:
Atlanta Homes for Sale | Atlanta Journal Constitution

As for getting a real estate agents to pick you up in Buford and drive you to look at homes for sale in Peachtree City, that might be kind of a tall order as it is a distance of 70 miles one-way between Buford and Peachtree City.

You could likely find some good real estate agent and call them and see if they would do you that kind of huge favor, but you would likely have to offer to pay all of their gas and expenses for that one day and then some for taking a day away from what is kind of a busy schedule for real estate agents these days.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville and Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan in Coweta County are the 2 closest hospitals/medical facilities to Peachtree City.

Under normal traffic conditions, it is roughly a 35-minute drive to the Atlanta Airport from Peachtree City via GA Hwy 74 and I-85.

Born 2 Roll and Newsboy, great info. Just brings up more ?s. Is there public transportation in PTC, connecting to ATL or airport.
Besides FL, does anyone know of a similar planned community in SE like PTC. Seen some which have golf cart paths within the cmmty but don't connect to anything outside like PTC seems to. This would be a BIG move for us away from everything we know. Both of us very active, travel, involved in activities but are having some driving issues and a golf cart sure seems a great option at least for some getting around.Don't want to rely on friends, family is all up North. We're just considering this so all the info is helpful.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be any public transportation in Peachtree City, either within the city itself or linking to Atlanta or the airport.

Though, in the case of transportation links between PTC and the Atlanta Airport, there are many privately-owned transportation companies that provide shared-ride and private shuttle service to and from the Atlanta Airport.

Some (but not all) of the shared-ride airport shuttle companies may provide service to and from your front door while virtually all of the private airport shuttle companies will provide service to and from your front door.

Here is are some links to some of the private companies that provide shared-ride shuttle service to and from the Atlanta Airport on the Atlanta Airport website:
Regional Shared-Ride Shuttles - Ground Transportation
Local Shared-Ride Shuttles - Ground Transportation

Personally, I don't know of a planned community that is quite as similar as Peachtree City.

Other posters may know of something, but I personally don't know of anything that is similar to PTC outside of Florida.

The only thing that immediately comes to mind is to check around in the areas of Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, otherwise, I personally don't know of anything in the Southeast outside of Florida that is on the scale of Peachtree City.

Do you have to be in PTC or do other surrounding communities have golf cart path access? Looks like its a beautiful area,is most of Fayette county the same?
Been looking at homes online, wide variety- again most older/need updating. Which parts of PTC are newer? Would really like a ranch btwn $200-$300K but if needs renovating/not so sure. Any advice?

Pretty much all of Fayette County is outer suburban in nature with extremely low crime and a pretty high quality of living overall, but Peachtree City is pretty much one of the few places in the Southeast outside of Florida where golf cart access can be found on such a large-scale almost citywide.

Peachtree City really is not that old of a community overall, though how old a house is depends on the neighborhood for the most part, though there may be some neighborhoods where some homes may be older than others.

That all depends on what you want personally. If you don't want something that needs repairs then you will have insure that the property you decide to buy is in perfect shape and you will have to be very careful with your search by being very inquisitive with the realtor and going through each property that you consider with a fine-tooth comb.

There is a county-wide multi-use path system that connects Fayetteville to Peachtree City and Tyrone, but Peachtree City most definitely has the most extensive path system in country and is really where you want to look. As I've stated before, the type homes and price range your seeking are in abundance in PTC -- don't let what your seeing online (or lack thereof) discourage you. Also, there's quite a bit of new construction underway right now -- the market has really taken off!

Two places you may want to consider: Togwatee Village directly across from Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville. It's connected to Fayetteville's path system and within walking distance of shops and restaurants but not a major grocery store. Centennial Park and the Village of Wilksmoor in Peachtree City has new construction, adjacent to a large shopping area and totally accessible by golfcart.

Did you contact anyone at the city link I provided? I'm certain they will not only answer all your questions but also connect you to a realtor that can show you around. Just call City Hall and ask for the public information officer. I know her personally and she's fantatsic! Trust me on this: Once you get down to PTC and see it, you'll want to move there. It's exactly what you're describing. You can absolutely 100 percent LIVE in Peachtree City without a car -- just a golfcart! So no need to keep asking questions here IMO! Good luck
