Looks like Druid Hills will be in for an interesting meeting Tuesday: Decatur Metro » Druid Hills to Discuss Cityhood Next Tuesday Night

On the agenda it looks like they will discuss which incorporation options they favor: The proposed city of "Briarcliff" (which has included DH in most maps), Annexation into the city of Atlanta (which they border and will have the COA COO there to speak), maintaining the status quo of unincorporated Dekalb (temporary Dekalb CEO will speak), or possibly their own city (Not clear if the "Committee to Explore Druid Hills Cityhood Options" is presenting on that or just reviewing the other options).

Edit: Also worth noting that part of Druid Hills is already in the city of Atlanta.

I vote to be annexed into the COA. They would be in the best cluster anyways and the southern part of the neighborhood is already COA.

Yea. That is probably what I would vote for if I lived there. I assume that would bring Druid Hills HS and Fernbank? and Brair Vista? Elementary into the city of Atlanta school system? That could be interesting.

Wow! For those who want to mix things up on the east side ATL school zoning (and those that don't), that could make things very interesting!

Would be the easiest option (and they can get out of DeKalb's tentacles).

My guess that Annexation would be good for COA and Druid Hills for tax income and schools, not so good for Dekalb County for the same reason.
Probably bad for Avondale Estates, which just got zoned for Druid Hills cluster, and wherever they wind up will be worse. Depending how far the borders go, it might slow the rapid increase in home prices in City of Decatur, because it would probably add an intown option to folks looking for good intown schools.

Would Emory/CDC be annexed into COA?

Yes, I think it would see: Druid Hills Neighborhood Map | Druid Hills Civic Association

OR https://maps.google.com/maps?q=druid...,+Georgia&z=14 (Note: This seems to only show the boundaries of Druid Hills that are outside the City of Atlanta).

Edit: It looks like Fernbank Elementary would be in, but Briar Vista Elementary would be out. This is of course all assuming they use the boundaries of druid hills as defined by the Druid Hills Civic Association.

I wonder if DHHS campus could be used as a middle school and high school? It looks as if it has multiple additions, but I have never been inside (at least not in the last 25 years).
