It is fact that without the 1996 olympics Atlanta wouldn't be the city it is today. But the olympics that year weren't considered good. Do you think we have a chance in the near future? What needs to be changed from the first time?

No chance. None at all.

Atlanta getting the Olympics in the first place was, like, the biggest upset ever. There are literally dozens of cities that would be in line to get it before us, and the list keeps on growing each cycle. Maybe in like 2100 or something, but not during the lifetime of any adults reading this.

Lol agreed! We all know how the Olympics ended up here in the first place. The only thing we should focus on is the College Playoffs and getting the Super Bowl. Other than that, Olympics are out the question IMO. It did though put this city on the MAP

YES.

We have the largest airport in the world
Our heavy rail system can bring people from the airport to downtown for all the attractions
We are the most accessible city in America
We have enough hotel rooms to support the Olympics
Lakepoint will be open by then which will help
I'm sure people from across the world will want to visit our new stadium in 2017
Atlanta worldwide status will continue to increase with Tomorrowworld, PCM, BA, new stadium, etc.
etc etc etc

We should have it again NLT 2040. BTW, everybody said in the 90s they we would never have the Olympics

I agree with the majority of the posters and say absolutely not.

It would be more realistic to have a Super Bowl here.

I also disagree and say no, the Olympics did NOT put Atlanta on the map. Atlanta was already either there or well on it's way to being on the map. The Olympics just helped solidify that fact.

We should, but let's wait until the next round of stadiums serve their useful lives and have to be rebuilt.

Not without seriously upgrading the transit infrastructure Atlanta won't.
