Just rephrase this to "I'm White, areas of the city that are not majority "poor" blacks?" and see what happens.

It's usually phrased in a way that you can still ask the question, but it won't trigger any "OMG THAT'S RACIST" alarms.

On the other hand, I posit that someone could ask about Hispanic or Asian areas of Atlanta and not get the sort of "harumph" responses seen here.

Atlanta & Georgia has lots of black people. The only places I can think of is south Gwinnett and East Cobb cities that would match the description.
