I am moving from Savannah to Atlanta within 6 weeks. I have been looking for a house or an apartment for rent for my family. My wife and I have one very yougn kid, and want to keep our monthly housing expenses under $1500. I found some apartment in the south kirkwood neighborhood. I was wondering if it is a safe place to live for a family.

If by South Kirkwood, you mean south of Hosea then yes. There are places that are not as desirable as north of Hosea, eg: Bixby Court apts. But most streets are safe and full of great neighbors. Can I ask the apartments?

Thanks a lot for the reply. Yes, I found one apartment off Wyman St. in stone gate cottages and one on the clay street.

Never heard any issues there. It is a gate-controlled complex, and you can walk to Ann's Snack Shack for a Ghetto Burger.

Check out this post. Coincidentally, it was right above yours, in this forum. I think this is the same general area as Kirkwood, though I am not 100% positive.

Dear cqholt,

Thanks a lot for your information! How about the houses on the clay street near the intersection of the Memorial dr? is it safe to live there?

There will be more foot traffic and those duplexes at the intersection did have issues in the past, but they have been cleaned up. I walk down that street to get to autozone, etc. As long as you take percaustions; alarm, motion lights, dead bolts, etc. You'll be fine.
Consider coming to the kirkwood home for the holidays event, this Saturday December 7, from 4-7pm.
