Will be traveling from the north headed to Fla. I have been caught in Atlanta rush hour traffic and it is horrible. Would it be better at 2-3 in the afternoon or after 7 in the evening?

You should be OK at 2 p.m-3 p.m. If you pass through right after 7 p.m., you might hit the tail end of rush "hour."

Thanks. As I look at the entire timeline it might make more sense to reach Atlanta around 8-9pm. I am guessing that traffic should be tolerable at that time.

That should work, although there are no guarantees on I75/85. I've hit traffic jams at odd times due to accidents, but of course that can happen on any highway. Still, I recommend it instead of taking the I285 bypass, which adds a lot of miles to the trip and is boring. I've actually only used the bypass once in the 10 years I've lived in Atlanta, and I told myself I wouldn't use it again unless I had to because it seemed to take so long.

2-3, you'll still have a little bit of a slowdown, not too bad, but it won't be a speed limit run either. Before 2 and after 9:30 is really the only time you can make a speed limit run other than middle of the night.

Good choice.

You should generally be okay at anytime within an 11-hour overnight window of between 7pm and 6am.
