Who knows if this is fluff, but the new owner of Gwinnett Place mall seems to have big plans for it.

I wonder what he means when he says big box is dead and the future is mixed-use. Will he tear down the mall? Part of it?

This little snippet doesn't say, but I'm glad to see the new owner and Gwinnett county are taking development of this area seriously. Or, they at least say they are.

OUR VIEW: Gwinnett Place Mall area still vital to county | Gwinnett Daily Post

I can only hope they do something to make it a viable shopping area again. I drive to Mall of Georgia as opposed to going there.

So, will it be a "lifestyle center", or a "festival marketplace"?

I for one am glad to hear this since I recently bought in the area..

LA Fitness is on it's way in so that's a pretty cool anchor even though it may not influence supplemental retail.

I think the image of Gwinnett Place somehow being in 'ancient ruins' is overblown but this definitely a plus

Mixed use simply means what it says. Residential, business, maybe some boutique etc

Sorry no.. it's going to take up some of the dead real estate on pleasant hill

I misspoke.. It's a plus for the area not necessarily the mall...

I remember when Gwinnett Place opened, and it was the most fantabulous, exciting, beautiful, biggest mall ever in metro ATL.

Yes, I'm old.

Its difficult to understand why its not a viable shopping area. There is tons of successful retail in the area just not the mall itself. Pleasant Hill is an absolute zoo all the time. Its amazing that you can have a mall in total decline in such a busy corridor.
