Why? How does it hurt to have an entertainment facility in other areas of town in addition to the concentration that already exists on the South side?

Geographical concentration for industries is a good thing.

You have Eagle Rock Studios in nearby Norcross and another studio in Doraville/Chamblee, so there are studios already in the area. Plus you're connected to Marta for this new studio.

Those should be on the southside, in the South Metro, or in the CoA from Downtown southward.

No, they shouldn't. They're there for a reason. Now, the northside will have a more bustling area. I'm sure the actors would rather be in the northern metro compared to the southern metro, especially because there are a lot more things to do and they'll be very close to Buckhead.

Yes, they should. I thought I told you? They should be on the southside, in the South Metro, etc. as I said above.

I’m in agreement with those who desire to see the film and television industry continue to grow and develop mostly, if not completely, on the Southside.

And the Southside has been able and continues to benefit from the ongoing growth and development of the film and television production industry, including at such Southern Crescent sites as Trilith Studios (formerly Pinewood Atlanta Studios), Tyler Perry Studios, Areu Brothers Studios, Blackhall Studios, Blackhall Studios East, etc.

But I am also pleased to see the old Doraville General Motors Assembly Plant site continue to attract development opportunities.

And I also support the continued growth and development of the film and television in metro Atlanta and Georgia, no matter where it occurs.

And I also support the rights of all reputable private businesses (including film and television media production entertainment companies) to locate where they may choose (and to locate in areas that they think may be best for the wants and needs of their companies) in a free-market system and in a free society.

This will be right next to 3rd Rail Studios, which is where, among other titles, Rampage and Richard Jewell were made.

BTW, how many plans for this piece of land have come and gone in the last 15 years?

Default UPDATE: Doraville approves plans for old GM plant to become state's largest studio

Quote:
DORAVILLE, Ga. - New life is on its way to the old General Motors plant in Doraville. City leaders voted on Monday to unanimously approve the purchase to a new owner.

Doraville Mayor Joseph Guierman believes it’s a step in the right direction for his city after the Doraville Downtown Development Authority unanimously approved the transfer of ownership from Integral Group to Gray Television on Monday.

The plan is to build the largest TV and movie production studio in the state.
