Well, not every tourist wants to ride the ferris wheel. There are plenty of visitors who want a safe place to stay as a jumping off point for hiking, dining, shopping, golfing, exploring the city's history, seeing the Shakespeare festival, checking out the Silverbacks, etc.

You're correct about the ferries wheel, but most tourist are here to see the aquarium or world of coke. Why did you bring up safety? I doubt many tourist are here for a Shakespeare festival or to see a minor league soccer team. Shopping? At town Brookhaven, most likely going to lenox for shopping. Brookhaven's history, very short 2012 to present. Those motels along Buford hwy and 85 don't look very safe compared to the ones downtown.

Downtown is not the only place people come to visit, cq. Places like Stone Mountain, Kennesaw National Battlefield, the Zoo and Six Flags are huge tourist draws, and many folks simply want a place to stay where they can branch out from. There's tons of history around Brookhaven itself, too. The Goodwin House dates back to the 1830s. Historic Brookhaven grew up in the early 1900s and a lot of folks enjoy looking at the beautiful old homes around the historic golf course. It's just an old quirky area with many layers, as well as modern conveniences.

Brookhaven is a few hours visit at best. It's not some tourist destination. Let's not kid ourselves. I agree with you on Stone Mountain and the Zoo though. You're overrating Kennesaw Mountain however. Most out of state tourists aren't even aware it exists and don't care. If Atlanta was really close to it, it would be a different story, but Stone Mountain is seen as iconic to the Atlanta metro.

I included the zoo with downtown attractions, along with the BeltLine. If people want beautiful historic homes, it doesn't get much better than the Victorians in Grant Park.

I think that Brookhaven is a nice community, but I must have missed the "exciting part".

That is pretty dumb given the diversity in Brookhaven. That place is a real melting pot.
