The Avalon WF will likely be the closest to you. Here are your only other options in the area that I'm aware of.

Fresh Market
1205 Johnson Ferry Road
Marietta, GA 30068

Whole Foods
1311 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Suite 580,
Marietta, GA 30068

Fresh Market
3005 Old Alabama Rd,
Alpharetta, GA 30022

Super H Mart
10820 Abbotts Bridge Rd
Johns Creek, GA 30097

I like H-Mart. I don't go that often, but now and then I pick up produce for a good price. The food court offerings are great as well.

Didn't the Harry's in Alpharetta move to/become the Whole Foods in Avalon? I'd only visited that Harry's a couple of times, but it was dumpy compared to the Whole Foods in Johns Creek. I don't live over that way anymore, but if I did, I would not be sad to see that location shuttered.

Thanks for the confirmations.

How bad (good?) is the produce at Kroger and Publix? (If you have some means of comparing to produce at northern chains, like Stop & Shop, Hannafords, Shaw's, A&P, or Shop Rite, that would be very helpful. Thanks.)

The produce at Publix is typically of better quality than Kroger, but most Krogers have more variety than Publix.

The only northern chain I'm familiar with is Weggman's. Weggman's seems more like The Fresh Market to me so I really don't know a northern chain that's comparable to Kroger or Publix.

LOVE shopping at Super H Mart for meat and produce. Doing an entire grocery run there isn't quite as easy, in my experience.

Kroger is more like Shop Rite or Giant

Publix is closer to Market Basket.

I don't trust any Asian supermarkets for meat.

Probably because of all the Chinese buffets that are always getting shut down for health code violations, but it's tough to shake the illogical association!

H-Mart is a lot better than Great Wall or Megamart, though. For produce, it's fine. And probably meat, too, I just wouldn't do it personally.

It's Korean. Called either HMart or Super H. Assi, Nam Di Mun, and MegaMart are also Korean. Great Wall is Chinese.

I don't know what I'd do without these stores to buy more exotic produce and Asian sundries...and to save money!
