FYI - This is for a Half a Billion Dollar project (enough to build the Beltline east & west extensions of the streetcar). Cobb is expecting the state and Feds to pick up the rest. Most of the Streetcar was paid for by the CoA.

Incorrect.

$47.2 million came from the Feds. The project when started, was supposed to cost $69 million, so if the project went as intended, the Feds were going to pay for 70% of the project. The cost overruns were covered from city and local funds, but even then 50% of the funding came from the Feds... so you are wrong.

Do some research.

Why are we talking about running super expensive streetcars out to lightly populated areas that have been hemorrhaging population? We need to be allocating some of our very scarce transportation dollars on areas that are booming with new jobs, residents and taxes.

Once we've taken care of the immediate needs at hand, we can turn attention to more speculative ventures.

I think BRT makes more sense for Cobb Parkway. But Half a billion for buses is a lot of money. However my issue is that local tax payers are only paying 20% of the price of the buses and asking people in other parts of the country to pay the rest. If Cobb wants $500 M buses great, It makes some sense, but pick up the tab not me.

But I didn't say "as intended" did I? They paid for most of the actual funding.

Of course I don't think Feds should be paying any for that or any transportation. 100% should be paid by users and local in some cases.

Atlanta paid majority of the costs.

47M Fed / 98M Total = 48% (less than half).

Subtract the items that the COA didn't contribute and your statement that the COA paid for most of it is incorrect.
