That's just revenue track.

Dude, just quit trying, you're making yourself and the other "2.7 mile" cheerleaders look worse by the post.

Dude, you just can't admit that the streetcar travels on a 2.7 mile pinch loop. Not a 1.6 mile linear, made up distance.

No, I fully admit that, just like I admit the Blue Line travels on two 15 mile tracks in each direction. But that doesn't magically make it a 30 mile line does it?

No, but tracks run next to each other, not 1 block apart. What is the minimum distance apart the rail has to be for YOU to consider it separate?

At minimum, beyond resonable walking distance, so at least a quarter mile, and maybe as much as 0.3 to 0.4 miles. Hrm, you know what? Your post had me go back and measure the western half of the route, it's tracks are only very slightly farther apart than the Edgewood/Auburn segment, 0.09 as opposed to 0.08 miles apart...

Can you honestly not walk one block? The whole point of the streetcar (or any non walking mode of transportation) is to cover distances that are too far for walking. Over a mile from Centennial Olympic park to Ebenezer Baptist is not an easy walk so the streetcar helps. One block from the streetcar is completely reasonable to walk. The official map even has a quarter mile buffer showing the areas considered reasonably close. Not surprisingly it's all overlap meaning the areas between the streetcar lines are all within a quarter mile of the streetcar either eastbound or westbound.

Look at the Plane Train at the airport. It's a loop, almost 3 miles around, but you don't ride the train all the way around to get to/from a concourse. You take it out from the North Terminal to your concourse and when you get back you hop on it the other direction. It's technically a one way loop, counter clockwise and separated by the walkway. But you use it as if there are two separate tracks travelling opposite directions. It's effectively only taking you out 1 mile at most from the North/South Terminals (an important fact if you choose to just walk). I wouldn't advertise to my friends who have never been to Hartsfield that the train is nearly 3 miles long when from end to end you'd only be travelling a mile and a half and in truth usually much shorter than that.

I'm sure I can walk a lot further than you are willing to, I have no issue walking 1-2 miles, but the issue I have is people being negative about the streetcar and trying to put it down by saying it's only 1.6 miles.

Uhhh, the streetcar doesn't have side-by-side tracks with cars going in opposite directions like MARTA. Wow, you really do have to spell everything out for some people.

I'm not even being negative about the streetcar. Just saying it's misleading to call it 2.7 when it's effectively much smaller
