This would be a dumb move in my opinion. Especially at a time when people want to be in Intown Atlanta. Also I doubt the folks up in Cobb County would want to finance another stadium....

The website adds that "sources say" Rachesky's close ties to Malone have lead some city officials to wonder whether his bid for the Hawks, if successful, would lead to the franchise pursuing a move "out of its downtown Philips Arena Home to an Atlanta suburb."
The Braves organization is leaving Atlanta for a new $1.1 billion Cobb County stadium complex. The stadium is scheduled to open for the 2017 season.

Attendance is up for Hawks games and they are attracting a good mix of fans. Moving them from the popular and modern Philips arena is a bad idea.

Philips Arena is nice. Another stadium move would be a bad idea.

Philips is amazing. By far one the nicest arena I've visited. By locating the boxes on 1 wall, it allows the upper bowl to be 30' closer to the floor.

This article is nothing but pure speculation. So you think he'd move to Cobb just because this guy is friends with one of the head honchos of the Braves? What a stretch. That's like saying the Falcons would move to Cobb just because of Arthur Blank's ties with Home Depot.

Not going to happen.

Just more fuel for Cobb's rivalry with Atlanta.

Tell author of this article to go read the Hawks lease at Philips Arena and visit the NBA fan base demographics and get back to me. They are not going anywhere.
