I will be moving to Atlanta to work in an office building near the Lenox Square Mall in the next month or so. I have heard the horror stories about Atlanta traffic, so I am leaning towards living in Buckhead or somewhere around the Lenox Square Mall. Any ideas about areas?

I would like to keep rent to $1,500 or less per month for a 1BR/1BA. I do not really care about suburban vs. urban or public transportation since I have a car.

Thank you for any help.

The horror stories won't affect you as long as you live near where you work. Buckhead is very expensive in general, but I think you'd be able to find something in your price range. There are some more affordable areas adjacent to Buckhead, like Lindbergh and others.

You can live anywhere near Marta. Just take Marta to work. Try Dunwoody or Lindbergh Center so you will be close to work but not too close to work

Live along a MARTA line and take the train, that drastically expands your reach without putting you in traffic. The Lenox mall area is walkable from both rail stations so any line will work.

Good advice here on living close to work and taking MARTA.

Brookhaven, Chamblee, are close to Lenox. With your budget, you could get a place on or off Peachtree st, would be a good place to start since you are new to the area. Buckhead is good, midtown. If you can get a place close to work, that would be key.

Lenox Park.

You'll find something in your range there. No matter what traffic is doing, you can get to the mall in under 5 minutes via E. Paces Ferry Road. Walk to MARTA. Walk to work, too, if you like.

And you live in a beautiful setting, in a 30+ acre park that started life as the old Standard country club, before it moved to Alpharetta.

You can thank me later.

First place that came to mind when I saw the thread and the OP's budget.

Also practically across the street from Publix & Target, with the huge Brookhaven Kroger just up the road. It's a great neighborhood.

I obviouisly don't know the OP's budget either, but I'd pick a place on Piedmont between Roswell Rd and Peachtree. The most economical one seems to be Cambridge at Buckhead. Expect to pay $1,100+ for a one bedroom there unless you catch a special.

There is even a free MARTA shuttle to get you around the area during basicaly working hours. This means the Lenox area is on the list. Also, you'd be walking distance to restaurants, movies, groceries, malls, gyms, and pretty much whatever you need to survive. The only reason I did not move there was because the unit I wanted was $1279 at the time so it was not my best option considering I don't work in the area.
