I'm considering checking out the neighborhoods near either Collins Hill High or Brookwood High in Lawrenceville. I really like the area around Collins Hill because of the park and aquatic center with the water slides and play structures. Is that area as nice as it seems?

Can anyone give me specific streets or subdivisions to look at - or to avoid for that matter - in either of those neighborhoods.

Which are the best elementary schools that feed into those two high schools?

And what types of grocery stores, theatres or good restaurants do you recommend in either of those areas?

I know they're not right next to each other, we're going to be looking at each individually.

Thanks for your time.

I work as a teacher in Gwinnett County, but I do not live in Lawrencville, so I can only offer some thoughts on the schools.
Both of those areas are really nice. Great schools, great everything. I may be a little more apt to be in the Brookwood school district, as it is a very stable and has been great for some time now. Collins Hill is a relatively new district, but does perform well in state standards.

This is a listing of all the schools in the county. Beside each school is the cluster (high school) that it feeds into. As far as elementary schools go, I believe there are three for both CH and BW clusters. Of those, I would recommend Walnut Grove, Brookwood, and Gwin Oaks Elementary Schools.

I hope you find this helpful. The big thing to look at is the school's size. Every school is ridiculously large in the county but some are a bit more manageable. Test scores also provide some indication of the school's performance, but I emphasize SOME. I would also visit any of the schools that you are thinking of before purchasing.
