So I got a job offer in Kennesaw, but I am really unfamiliar with the area. I have a couple of horses so I would need to live in a place that is somewhat rural. I would only have to commute a few times a week so it would be ok if it was like an hour away. Preferably an area that is not mass expensive...

So does anyone know the area well? Or have any ideas where I should start? Or is it all too metro - perhaps it is not a good place for horses? Thanks!

Considering your criteria (commuting, an hour away, horses, etc...), you should look to live in Bartow County, Paulding County, and Northern Cherokee County.

North of Kennesaw would be perfect it seems to be more rural in that area. Cartersville maybe?

There are lots of horses and horse parks in that area. You don't have to drive that far north, either. Look into Woodstock around the Cherokee and Cobb County borders.

If you have horses, you'll like that area. Do you have kids?

During my research of the area, I've come across people stating more than once that Milton was known for their horse farms/equestrian influence. However, not sure what your budget is, but real estate seemed on the pricier side.

Cartersville, canton, Dallas all come to mind as more rural areas that are decently close to kennesaw. Look in Paulding, Cherokee and Bartow counties. Land is fairly cheap there as well.

While Milton is lovely, and has many large lots, Milton/Kennesaw would be an extremely painful commute. Even 2-3 times a week would get burdensome very quickly.

Which kind do you have? That possibly could make a difference.

Oh I have mustangs. So no show horses here and I am definitely on a budget! No kids - so no concerns of that type.

Again, a recommendation for Bartow, Paulding and Cherokee. Bartow is the least developed and a straight shot via 75. Milton is very pricey horse country and a more difficult commute.
