Size is right-price is insane. I would rather spend the same amount and get three times as much space OTP. I would consider moving into an apartment that size for $500 a month or so. $1100 starting is ridiculous.

So, this just grinds my gears. Why is the article titled "Atlanta getting its first ‘micro’ apartments", when they go on to say this?

Geez, 30-35 minutes outside of the Perimeter or a less "hip" area...you could get way more. I don't know if the Emory area is actually "hip," BUT a lot of what drives the high rent in some areas is a perception of "hip" or "cool", or the perception that it is easier to get around.

When I lived in town, my commute was actually about the same as the close-in suburbs due to having to stop every two feet to yield to joggers, bikers, roller-blading gangs of at least 25, and the drunken and confused homeless...at 7:00 a.m. The drunk homeless people actually paid more attention to crosswalk signals than everyone else with their $400 ipods with earbuds in...convenient? Not really.

Sorry for the tangent. And yes, it was that long ago. The ipod was the latest greatest gadget to have.

I don't want roommates right now. Does that make me an anti-social loser?

In my opinion, the idea behind a micro-apartment is that it should be cheap. However, from what I'm hearing, the prices aren't that low for them. In my opinion, it defeats the purpose, especially in the Atlanta area. There is alot more space here than in San Francisco. For the small amount of room, $1100 is alot of money.

I don't want to pay $1000/month rent for any place, unless it's a townhouse. If it's a one bedroom apartment, forget it. I micro-apartment, NO. Apartments that small better be around $500/month. In my opinion, the whole reason for less space is to save space, and to save money. For what I have to do, I don't mind an apartment the size of a garage. It would be quite tight, but if it's $500/month and the utilities come with it, then I can live with that. $1000, not including utilities, that is a rip off. I could get a roommate and find a 2B in Atlanta for $1800 and still have money left over. However, I don't want a roommate right now.

Seriously? $1,100 for a 400 square foot apartment at Emory? You can pay the same amount or a small amount more for an apartment in the heart of West Midtown, at 630-nearly 900 square feet. At least there, you're in a hip and growing district, and much closer to Midtown and downtown.

Looking at the floorplan posted, that's a horrible use of space. I think IKEA has a 270 square foot space laid out that is more usable than this one. Of course, the width is the limiting factor, being so long and narrow.
