This is a great step forward for cyclists in Atlanta, especially those of us who choose to use a bicycle to commute to work everyday. Making the streets safer for all modes of transportation - pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and cars - is what Atlanta needs to focus on as we continue to densify.

"Katz will be responsible for 'a wide range of activities related to bicycle transportation, including planning bicycle projects to completion, public outreach, project development, grant writing, implementation of the city's bike share program and ensuring new development is consistent with Cycle Atlanta and the Connect Atlanta plan,' officials said."

It's looking like they'll open with that, then try and push out to 50/60 stations and 500 bikes by the end of the year.

"Katz is joining an administration that is energized and organized around the many opportunities before us to make Atlanta the most bikeable, walkable, livable city in the Southeast."
That's not really too lofty of a goal....

Are there any cities in the southeast that are more bike able, walkable, and livable than Atlanta currently?

What do you do?

<In high pitched, squeaky voice> "I'm a Chief Bicycle Officer."

That probably sounded funny in your head.
