I'm really glad to see that Marietta is pushing for this. Honestly, there needs to be lighting along I-75 from the Chattahoochee all the way to Exit 271.

Quote:
Marietta City Council members voted Wednesday to reach out to the other cities to see if there is interest in going in together in an effort to get lighting installed, reports Marietta Daily Journal.Marietta worked in 1989 with the Georgia Department of Transportation to get lighting installed on I-75 within city limits (about a nine-mile loop), a Marietta spokesperson told the MDJ.
GDOT installed the lighting and paid for maintenance, and the city paid to keep them lighted, the spokesperson said.
The lights were turn off in 2014 after copper lighting was stolen and the lighting were deemed a fire hazard, the paper adds.

Honestly GDOT should pay for the installation, maintenance, and bill of freeway lights for the entire metro. Our major interchanges should not be dark.

Agreed. GDOT should be lighting their roads. It should not be left to the whims of whatever city that section of highway happens to pass through.

If this is a huge concern for you and your neighbors, I suggest writing your county commissioner and pressure them to fund these throughout the county and freeway.

Baffles me that it isn't already. Tons of traffic from in state and across the country. I constantly see out of state cars driving around on the interstates.
