Virtually all of the "safe Georgia cities" listed above are suburbs of Atlanta (plus at least one Savannah suburb, Pooler). This is in part due to the state's own municipal definitions: almost every incorporated place in Georgia is officially "City of." Also, the safe cities here are mostly white, very conservative, and they look a lot alike (although Pooler has Spanish moss). They aren't true cities in the sense of Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon or Athens. Some people want to live in a real city, not a suburb.

Most of the city of Atlanta is pretty safe. There are areas with crime problems but they aren't indicative of the entire city.
