Several people have commented about finding jobs in ATL; that it's harder or taking longer than expected. Others have posted about moving here before finding a job.

The most recent Feb 2007 GA DOT report
http://www.dot.state.ga.us/dot/plan-prog/planning/swtp/SWTP_final_report_feb_2007.pdf (broken link)
seems to indicate that the population has been, and still is, growing faster than employment growth in the Atlanta area (see section 5, especially figure 5.6 on page 130).

If I'm reading the study correctly (I'm definitely not an expert), it looks like this has been a trend for a few years now and the trend is expected to continue for a long while.

Something to keep in mind when considering relocating....

Yeah, it's a honking big report. Some pretty fascinating stuff in it, though - growth forecasts, traffic patterns, economic predictions by area... and I thought it was amazingly read-able for a 'gub-mint' study...

Thanks for posting this info, femme. I agree with the other poster - I wouldn't ever move to a new location without having a job!
