I've been using the "Find my Zone" tool on the Atlanta PD website (
APD Find My Zone ) to look at crime in Atlanta. I was surprised to see how low crime seems to be this year compared to last year (7 murders so far this year, but 93 the past two years) but now I am thinking it is not up to date despite it saying it is current at the bottom of the screen "as of 5/4/16". If you go to the download page and choose to download the most recent weekly crime log, you will see they have a column for year to date 2016 and year to date 2015 at the same time. That shows 32 murders have occurred in Atlanta this year compared to 29 by this time last year. So according to this, crime is actually up slightly and there have been nearly 5x as many murders as reported in the online tool.
What am I missing here? Is the online interactive tool simply not up to date? Seems very misleading.
