Hello there-

Single young professional here relocating to Atlanta this summer. I’ll be working around the I-75/i-285 area on the perimeter and was wondering whether I should live close to work or live in midtown/buckhead instead. I don’t want to miss out on all the fun the city has to offer but thought I’d ask.

Thank you

Talking to some young professionals that live near The Battery (I-75/I-285) and was surprised how many tell me they rarely feel a need to go intown because there is so much offered in that area.

I live in the same area - but no longer qualify as a YP and I like doing both. So my recommendation would be to stay close to work for the commute but you won't miss out on anything and still have easy access to intown activities.

How much you want to spend on rent?

I have visited a friend who lives there.

I'm not at all surprised to hear this. It really is a very good social scene for young people there.

Thank you guys that’s awesome feedback. I realized too that intowm activities wouldn’t be too far given easy access to the freeways and outside rush hour. Looking to rent between $1,400-$1,600.

Live near your job first. You will not be that far from your job. I would also consider the Perimeter area. You will have a reverse commute to your job and you will have MARTA access

You should be able to find something within the Cumberland area for that price range. I also agree to live near your job first so that you can learn ways to navigate around the area. We are years behind with transit so commuting is the primarily option and you will not be far from the city anyway living in that area.

Nor am I. The restaurants around Cumberland are jam-packed with the OP's demographic.

Just for clarification - you would have Marta access to downtown but not to your job
