Do Smyrna/Vinings area. You will be able to get to work in 20 mins, you will be around plenty of shopping, safe, diverse, near lots of entertainment plus you will have a reverse commute!

Smyrna/Vinings may end up being our target area, as my husband has been checking out opportunities and those are located in more central and north areas of metro Atlanta. How are the public schools in the Smyrna / Vinings area or would we need to look into private schools (we will have a child in elementary school)?

Are there any apartment communities in the Smyrna/Vinings area that you all would recommend? We could probably increase our target budget up to $1500/month if necessary.

It will vary some by street, but overall, yes. You will see a lot of strollers around. Just explore it and see what you are comfortable with.

As I mentioned it is different from a typical suburb. It is an older, leafy "streetcar" suburb so it will have its own character compared to newer cul-de-sac suburbs / garden style apartments.

But could be worth checking out and seeing if it is a fit for what you are looking for.
