Seems like it will only amount to re-routing based on demand, no hope (would love to be proven wrong, though) for greater or regional connectivity... apparently transportation departments need these kind of studies as part of the decision-making process, going forward?

Also studies are required to be updated for federal funding through FHWA and FTA.

Regional connectivity will happen. Period. And we'll know a lot more about the plans within 2-3 years at most.

While I don't think it will likely be MARTA heavy rail from Midtown to Cumberland/beyond (though it might be), I think it will likely be commuter rail between Cumberland and Downtown, that sort of resembles service levels similar to heavy rail.

Heavy rail extension from HE Holmes to Six Flags is a higher possibility, and that would serve Mableton and Austell and the I-20 corridor.

Perhaps they'll brand the MARTA Blue Line as the solution for South Cobb (which is majority African-American and thus has much less racial "discomfort"), and the commuter rail line to Kennesaw or Acworth as the rail solution for the rest of Cobb.

The "Connect Cobb" LRT or BRT projects are probably dead, since that was Tim Lee's baby. Bob Ott is much more partial to using the Western & Atlantic rail corridor for transit, and he is Cobb's representative on the regional transit committee.

Connect Cobb wasn't just Tim Lee's but also ex-Cobb DOT director; who was a planner not a traffic engineer and has since moved on to lead Atlanta's ReNew Bond and TSPLOST programs. So much for that Team Cobb spirit she had.
