I think they're pretty new. I don't ever remember seeing bike share stations before a month or two ago.

They have been around a year or so but still rolling out through the city. They are now most places inside the Beltline.

You could live near North Springs Marta station. Lots of apartments near it, and an easy connection to Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown.

I've visited quite a few times and enjoyed exploring the area. The job would in the Buckhead area and it appears to be accessible via metro. I like the mid-town and downtown areas, and would like to get a place there, but am open to other areas (that are within a 15 min walk to the metro). I've taken MARTA everytime I visit and would prefer to take it exclusively to work. This seems possible from mid-town and downtown.

I know I can get to work easily via MARTA, but wanted to know how easy it is to traverse the city via bus and MARTA. I'm assuming car-share and bikeshare are available options and can help with long distance or complex routes. So why I'm asking is this: Does anyone have experience living car-free or car-lite? Is it possible with only minor inconveniences?

Thanks!
It's possible. I do it. I haven't quite worked up the nerve to bike in the ATL. I check the weather before I leave. I shop early in the morning or late evening after work. Technology is so good that you can time everything so you aren't waiting all day. I haven't used Zip car or anything like that but I make use of uber/lyft. I would suggest brookhaven, chamblee, or lindbergh. There are decent places within walking distance to MARTA and they won't break the bank. I've lived car free for a while in bigger cities with better transit but Atlanta's transit is pretty decent. Good luck!
