Yeah, Atlanta is the #3 entertainment city, behind NY and LA.

Miami and Austin are probably in that category as well. And maybe Nashville, historically anyway.

Are you saying they are #’s 4, 5, and 6?

I most certainly do not want Austin-style music festivals that felt like they happened every 3-4 months when I lived there. Austin at least has great downtown foot traffic and buses. That would be the death grip that Atlanta would never wake up from.

It's constantly evolving. Think about it, what happened to "and roll"? I see rap and hip hop as offshoots of rock. I mean the "grunge" era might have made a case for having the Grammys in Seattle. Rock and Roll came out of Rhythm and Blues.

R&B/hip-hop genre represented 24.5 percent of all music consumption in the U.S. -- the largest share of any genre and the first time R&B/hip-hop has led this measurement for a calendar year.

Seven of the year's top 10 most popular albums were R&B/hip-hop efforts

Companies such as Live Nation and necessary funding institutions such as City National Bank already have offices in Atlanta, while Apple Music routinely sends a team to Atlanta to work with local artists and Spotify recently opened an office for a small local team. And in 2018, a new tax incentive in the form of the Georgia Music Investment Act is predicted to bring additional business to the city.

AGREED!!! I am a hip-hop head, but because a couple of ATL rap music artist have hot songs does not mean that the Grammys should move here. I stay indoors when the BET, Soul Train and MTV awards shows were hosted here.

Austin gets all this hype and is SUPER lame. Grammys should do DC, Philly, or Detroit before ATL.

No. Hip hop is an offshoot of ska music and has been around about 40 years now. It's here to stay. Also, the history between rock and R&B is much more complicated than what you've posted here and really doesn't support the argument you're trying to make.
