Wonder why Bruno Mars is so popular and wins so many awards? He does pre-hip-hop/rap retro funk, soul, r&b. I think the popularity of his style is an indication that people have gotten tired of the monotonous hip-hop genre.

The Grammy's are located where the record industry is located not where most popular recording artists might hail from. For the most part the capitals of the recording industry are New York and LA. Yes, Atlanta may produce a lot of talent but the business side of the industry is located elsewhere

Again is not because a particular, it several genres. I don't think people understand artist from Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, The Pussycat Dolls, Mariah Carey and etc have worked Atlanta producers and writers either from or Atlanta base.

For example all the pop songs below were written by Atlanta writers

And Atlanta has already hosted Awards shows, BET Hip hop and Soul Train Awards quite a few times.

NY, LA, Miami, Atlanta, and Las Vegas are the only cities getting events like these

It's not pre hip hop it's 90's hip hop influence the new jack swing era. Living color, living single, fresh prince.. Again hip hop started in the 70s

Not this year but award shows tend to move around Atlanta has host them several times. While not Grammys cause that highest award show in music. But I get an impression some of y'all think of the others shows as not a big deal when they are.

But its weird billboard has article about Atlanta and the Grammys when theirs a billboard award show they could put in Atlanta.

I don 't know...the more I think about it, the more sense it makes sense, really. I see Atlanta becoming more and more showbizzy by the day.
