So, no, it is not, but it's one hell of a coincidence that all the clubs cited have these features, but not one white owned club does. In one instance, a club was deemed to have a dance floor when an inspector observed a handful of people dancing in a clearing near the jukebox.
Well, that's in the Brookhaven ordinance.

This new Chamblee thing seems to be just flat shutting everybody down at 2 am. I don't think it matters whether they have a stage or a DJ or a dance floor or whatever.

Unfortunately in this case the club is minority owned and caters a minority clientèle. So they say they are getting hit especially hard as a result.

I don't have a problem with what Chamblee is doing. They don't equivocate.

Chamblee is making everybody close at the same time. However, according to the federal lawsuit, the burden of that falls most heavily on minority owned and patronized businesses.

If that is the case, then the plaintiffs will have to show that the council passed the ordinance with discriminatory intent. From what I can presently glean, that was not at all the case. I suppose we will learn more as the litigation proceeds.

For this to be a "progressive" city... shutting down alcohol sales at 2am is pretty pathetic. But, it is still the bible belt I guess.

We just vacationed in New England (including Boston), and it's the same or even earlier there. And they're the complete opposite of the 'Bible Belt' in every possible way.

Personally, I can't get worked up over whether closing time is 2,3 or 4AM. My personal closing time is at 11.
If you want to get your drunk on, start at lunch.

2 is pretty standard around most of the country.

Brookhaven will probably try to use this to support its war on late night bars.
